Year Round Fun and Sun in Beautiful Lanzarote

Lanzarote is one of the most popular vacation destinations in the Canary Islands. Lanzarote, like her sister islands, is the result of volcanic eruptions over hundreds of years. Both below the surface of the surrounding water and above, adventurous tourists may explore volcanic caves and tunnels. In fact, Lanzarote is home to the longest volcanic tunnel in the world. The Atlantida Tunnel is more than four miles long and includes both La Cueva de los Verdes and Jameos del Agua.

La Cueva de los Verdes is a natural cave that was created by the eruption of La Corona. The cave is open to tourists and is often used as a concert hall. Jesus Soto, a Venezuelan artist, created a system of ambient lighting to capture the splendor of the cave walls in 1964. The lighting was carefully installed so the natural magnificence of the cave was disturbed as little as possible.

Jameos del Agua was formed by the same eruption and lava flow that created La Cueva de los Verdes. As the surface of the lava solidified, lava continued to flow beneath. Gasses trapped beneath the surface eventually caused the surface to collapse. What could have been considered a disaster or simply a work of nature is now a bar and restaurant.

Popular Lanzarote Holiday Resorts

Lanzarote is home to several holiday resorts that promise to meet the year-round needs of tourists from around the world. Beautiful brown or white sand beaches offer tourists great opportunities for swimming, diving and sunbathing. All the holiday resorts in Lanzarote offer a variety of services and activities for young and old alike. The year-round warm climate makes Lanzarote holidays the perfect place for golf, tourism and diving, any time.

Costa Teguise

One of the most popular and attractive resorts for holidays in Lanzarote is Costa Teguise. As with any holiday resort, you expect beautiful beaches and a wide variety services and attractions. Costa Teguise goes a step above with gardens and green areas with native plants that enhance the feeling of peace and tranquility. The Costa Teguise golf course is one of the many attractions for people taking a Lanzarote holiday. From nearly every point of view the golfer may be exposed to breathtaking views of the volcanic landscape and the Atlantic Ocean.

Playa Blanca

Until recent years, Playa Blanca has been a small fishing village on the southernmost area of Lanzarote. Because of this, Playa Blanca is quieter and a bit more private than Costa Teguise. Quite a few people who decide to take villa holidays in Lanzarote choose Palya Blanca Don't let Playa Blanca's smaller size fool you - there are plenty of beaches, shopping and family oriented-activities. Though the nightlife isn't as busy as other resorts on the island, Playa Blanca does still offer a vivid nightlife. Overall, Playa Blanca is a great destination for Lanzarote holidays.

Puerto del Carmen

As the main area for holidays in Lanzarote, including an area favoured by the big travel companies who offer cheap holidays in Lanzarote, Puerto del Carmen is the largest resort, and the busiest. Puerto del Carmen has three large beaches, accommodation for up to 30,000 guests and about 4 miles of tourist attractions. Many restaurants and bars line the streets and offer a wide variety of foods for every meal. Due to Puerto del Carmen's world-wide popularity, restaurants range from international to native Mediterranean. The night life in Puerto del Carmen is busier than that of the smaller resorts. Several clubs are open until 6am, offering even the most avid party animal determined to enjoy his or her Lanzarote holidays a great time.
